Speedway first opened in 1961 after a year long
construction process. Both criticized and famed
for its design, the Bristol Race Track is a
NASCAR short track that was designed with high
banking, creating several spots where drivers
actually accelerate through the curves. The
track does not have a traditional oval shape
therefore, all of the Bristol Race Events are
generally fast paced and full of action.

event. The Bristol Night Race is extremely

The Bristol Motor Speedway becomes a holiday
must-stop as the TVA hosts its seasonal Speedway
in Lights event. While not a racing event per
se, the Speedway in Lights event draws many
visitors each year during the Holiday season and
features several lighted displays along the
track. Visitors can ride through the four mile
drive route and see the more than 200
